Keeping in mind the usual precautions, you can travel safely in China.

Travelers to the city of Wuhan (and Hubei province in general) are advised to exercise extra vigilance due to the outbreak of a previously unknown lung virus (SARS, MERS and bird flu have already been excluded). For the time being, no person-to-person contamination seems to be taking place, but it is advised to avoid animal markets, live animals, eating raw meat and contact with sick people in Wuhan. Furthermore, attention is also requested for strict application of hygiene measures, such as good hand hygiene. For symptoms of illness (fever, difficult breathing, body aches) it is advisable to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
